Vijender Gupta ने Universities से Public Policy और Sustainable Living पर Leadership करने की की अपील
Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta ने कहा है कि effective legislation के लिए reliable facts, credible research और ground-level evidence की जरूरत होती है। उन्होंने जोर दिया कि universities को legislatures और governments तक यह knowledge पहुँचाने में active partners बनना चाहिए। Gupta फरीदाबाद के Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies में आज आयोजित 'Vice Chancellors Conclave 2026' का उद्घाटन करने के बाद बोल रहे थे।
यह two-day conclave 22 और 23 August को आयोजित हो रहा है और इसकी theme 'Green Campus: Empowering Higher Education Institutions for a Sustainable and Resilient Future' है। इस event में Manav Rachna Educational Institutions के President Dr. Prashant Bhalla, Environmental Protection Activity के member Dr. H. D. Charan सहित देश भर की universities के vice-chancellors, pro-vice-chancellors और directors शामिल हुए।
Climate Change और Environmental Concerns
Climate Change को एक pressing reality बताते हुए Gupta ने Delhi और National Capital Region (NCR) में record-breaking heat, winter smog, polluted air, flash floods और declining groundwater levels का जिक्र किया। उन्होंने कहा कि Yamuna river की condition, air quality और groundwater depletion केवल environmental concerns नहीं हैं, बल्कि ये public health, economy और future generations के rights से जुड़े हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि sustainable development को personal values, habits और lifestyle बनना चाहिए और सवाल किया कि 'If India's universities are not green, how will India's future be green?'
Universities की Three Key Roles
Gupta ने India के green transition में universities की three key roles बताईं जिनमें models, educators और centers for research and solutions शामिल हैं। Campuses को 'small cities' बताते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि इनमें solar energy, rainwater harvesting, water conservation, 100 percent waste management, waste segregation और green infrastructure को implement किया जाना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि successful models policymakers को state और national levels पर इन्हें replicate करने का confidence देते हैं।
Applied Research और Delhi Assembly के Steps
Applied Research पर जोर देते हुए Gupta ने Indian climatic, social और economic conditions के हिसाब से solutions जैसे affordable solar technology, water-efficient agriculture, eco-friendly construction materials और air quality monitoring की जरूरत बताई। Delhi Legislative Assembly के बारे में उन्होंने बताया कि यह solar energy के use को बढ़ाने, digital operations से paper consumption घटाने और historic Old Secretariat complex के environmental performance को बेहतर बनाने की दिशा में काम कर रही है।
Conclave के recommendations और joint declaration का स्वागत करते हुए उन्होंने institutions से renewable energy, water recycling और carbon emission reduction के लिए specific, measurable और time-bound goals तय करने को कहा। उन्होंने proposal दिया कि यह conclave experiences शेयर करने, outstanding green campuses को honor करने और healthy competition को encourage करने के लिए permanent annual platform बने।
