New Delhi में 12-13 September 2026 को होने वाले 18th BRICS Summit के लिए तैयारियां जोरों पर हैं। 2026 के host nation के रूप में भारत 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability' theme पर जोर दे रहा है, जिसमें green finance, energy transition और climate action पर फोकस किया जाएगा। Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu ने 20 August 2026 को एक high-level review meeting की, जिसमें security protocols, traffic management और international delegates के लिए medical and civic infrastructure को मजबूत करने के निर्देश दिए गए BRICS 2026 Official Source।

Russian President Vladimir Putin के इस summit में शामिल होने की official confirmation मिल चुकी है। Chinese President Xi Jinping के शामिल होने की उम्मीद है, लेकिन उनकी participation अभी unconfirmed बनी हुई है। अगर वह आते हैं, तो लगभग सात साल में यह उनका पहला India visit होगा और June 2020 Galwan Valley conflict के बाद पहली बार उनका भारत आना होगा। 18 August 2026 तक Arunachal border पर बढ़ते तनाव की रिपोर्ट्स के बीच यह संभावित visit सामने आया है। Prime Minister Narendra Modi और President Xi की पिछले Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit के दौरान हुई मुलाकात के बाद से दोनों देशों के संबंधों में धीमी normalization process देखी गई है।
