New Delhi में Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IPU) ने World Mosquito Day के अवसर पर 22 August को एक Technical Seminar का आयोजन किया। इस Seminar का Title 'Clean Environment, Healthy Community: Small Steps for Big Impact' रखा गया था। Event का मुख्य उद्देश्य climate change और environmental shifts के कारण बढ़ रहे malaria और dengue जैसे vector-borne diseases की रोकथाम और control पर चर्चा करना था।
यह Technical Seminar university के Centre for Sustainability and Climate Change (CSCC) और University School of Environment Management (USEM) द्वारा Saturday को आयोजित किया गया था। इसमें ICMR-National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR), Carah Women Foundation और Municipal Corporation of Delhi ने सहयोग किया। USEM के Dean Professor Varun Joshi ने इस proceedings की अध्यक्षता की।
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare के NCDC से Dr. Akash Shrivastava ने 'Climate-Induced Dengue and Malaria Risk: The Impact of Global Warming' विषय पर keynote address दिया। वहीं, Carah Women Foundation की Dr. Roop Kumari ने climate change, vector-borne diseases और integrated vector management के आपसी संबंधों पर चर्चा की।
'One Health in Action' नाम से आयोजित Panel Discussion की अध्यक्षता CSCC और USEM के head Professor Prodyut Bhattacharya ने की तथा co-chairing Professor N.C. Gupta ने की। ICMR-RMRC Gorakhpur के former Director और ICMR में Disease Elimination के Chair Dr. Rajni Kant ने session को moderate किया। Panelists में TCI Foundation के National Technical Lead और NIMR के former Scientist G Dr. Ramesh C. Dhiman, NIMR-ICMR के Scientist G Dr. Himmat Singh, और Municipal Corporation of Delhi से Dr. Anjali शामिल रहे। Experts ने vector control, climate change mitigation, urban environmental management और community engagement को आपस में जोड़ने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया।
Event के दौरान malaria और disease control में योगदान के लिए National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control, Delhi की Director Dr. Tanu Jain को Sir Ronald Ross Award प्रदान किया गया। इसके अतिरिक्त, West Bengal में IDSP के State Entomologist Dr. Surjita Banerjee को Excellence in Vector Control Award से सम्मानित किया गया। Event में students के लिए एक interactive session और quiz competition भी आयोजित हुआ। यह event key recommendations की presentation और awards ceremony के साथ समाप्त हुआ, जिसमें public health institutions, environmental experts, researchers, communities और urban authorities के बीच collaboration मजबूत करने की अपील की गई।
