Delhi University ने Four-Year Undergraduate Programme के लिए Direct PhD Admissions की घोषणा की
Delhi University (DU) ने 2026-27 academic cycle से Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) के graduates के लिए direct PhD admission pathway की आधिकारिक घोषणा कर दी है। यह policy 25 July 2026 को approve हुए PhD Ordinance VI के amendments से आई है, जो eligible students को Master's या MPhil degree के बिना doctoral research करने की अनुमति देती है। यह National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 और University Grants Commission (UGC) 2022 regulations के अनुसार है।
Eligibility और Academic Requirements
इस pathway के लिए eligible पहला cohort वे students हैं जिन्होंने 2022-23 academic session में enrollment किया था। 75,948 students में से 35,943 students ने optional चौथे year में continue किया था। नए guidelines के तहत, candidates के पास minimum aggregate 75% marks या 10-point scale पर 7.5 CGPA के साथ four-year bachelor’s degree होनी चाहिए। इसके अलावा, candidates को UGC-NET या CSIR-NET जैसे national-level examinations qualify करने होंगे और mandatory departmental interview successfully complete करना होगा। SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), EWS, और differently-abled applicants के लिए requirement में 5% relaxation दी गई है, जिससे threshold 70% या 7.0 CGPA हो जाता है।
Supernumerary Category और Criticisms
DU ने ऐसे applicants के लिए एक supernumerary category भी introduce की है जिनका CGPA至少 6.0 (SC/ST/PwBD के लिए 5.5) है और जिन्होंने Scopus-indexed journal में first, second, या corresponding author के रूप में कम से कम एक research paper publish किया है। Delhi University Dean of Admissions, Haneet Gandhi ने confirm किया कि इन candidates को इस specialized provision के तहत consider किया जाएगा। University का aim FYUP के final year में integrated research methodology और dissertation work का उपयोग करके academic timelines को दो साल तक कम करना है। हालांकि, Miranda House faculty member Abha Dev Habib ने Master’s-level coursework को bypass करने के research quality और foundational conceptual understanding पर पड़ने वाले potential impact को लेकर concerns express किए हैं। इसके अलावा, Academic Council members Maya John और Latika Gupta ने एक dissent note जारी किया, जिसमें reservation implementation की clarity और non-JRF fellowships से जुड़ी limitations पर सवाल उठाए गए, जो उनके मुताबिक full-time PhD scholars को guaranteed financial support के बिना छोड़ सकती हैं।
