YouTuber Ajeet Bharti ने शुक्रवार, 21 अगस्त 2026 को दिल्ली के Jantar Mantar में 'Reservation Hatao Andolan' protest का नेतृत्व किया। यह प्रदर्शन भारत की caste-based reservation system में महत्वपूर्ण सुधारों की मांग को लेकर किया गया था। इस demonstration में movement के Instagram page के followers शामिल हुए, जिसके अब 5 million से अधिक followers हैं। Bharti ने Union Government से पिछले 80 वर्षों में reservation policies के प्रभावों का विवरण देने वाले एक comprehensive white paper जारी करने की मांग की। उन्होंने तर्क दिया कि policy की overall efficacy का आकलन करने और true beneficiaries की पहचान करने के लिए ऐसा document आवश्यक है।
Bharti ने चार primary demands को रेखांकित किया, जिसमें Musahar community जैसे historically neglected groups तक benefits पहुँचाने के लिए 'quota within a quota' का implementation शामिल है। उन्होंने certain reserved categories को 'creamy layer' provisions से बाहर रखने पर सवाल उठाया और Scheduled Castes category के भीतर Economically Weaker Section (EWS) को शामिल करने का तर्क दिया। इसके अलावा, Bharti ने जोर देकर कहा कि educational institutions को admissions के लिए minimum marks बनाए रखने चाहिए, यह कहते हुए कि देश merit पर समझौता करके developed India के सपने को आगे नहीं बढ़ा सकता है।
हालांकि protest अंततः Jantar Mantar पर आगे बढ़ा, लेकिन इसे शुरुआती administrative hurdles का सामना करना पड़ा। Delhi Police ने शुरू में Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita की Section 163 के तहत prohibitory orders का हवाला देते हुए permission देने से इनकार कर दिया था, जो पांच या अधिक लोगों की unauthorized assemblies पर रोक लगाती है। बाद में authorization मिलने के बाद, Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force और Indo-Tibetan Border Police से युक्त भारी security presence के साथ barricades तैनात किए गए थे। Authorities ने कुछ protesters को detain कर लिया जो permitted 4 PM conclusion time के बाद भी site पर रुके रहे।
अपनी specific demands के अलावा, participants ने University Grants Commission equity regulations और Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act के संबंध में चिंताएं व्यक्त कीं। उन्होंने legislation के misuse को रोकने के लिए revisions की मांग की।
